This exploration would become a complex pursuit of the materiality of that violence, one that would also test the limits of their collaboration and shared artistic perspectives.
Medina did this with the goal of effecting a conceptual transposition of the violence of the streets of Mexico and the lavish staging of this international art event—bringing the Mexican humanitarian crisis into the rarified atmosphere of the art world.
